Este Single do Madan tem uma história espetacular!
Em 1988 fundei o estúdio FrequênCia Rara num sobradinho (no bairro do Sumaré em SP) iniciando as gravações com apenas 3 microfones e um Porta-Studio de 4 canais que gravava em fita Cassete.
O primeiro cliente que inaugurou as gravações, foi o Madan Neves, um cabeludo que chegou com um violão de 12 cordas para iniciar um trabalho de músicas autorais, inspiradas na filosofia do mestre OSHO.
Logo ao passar o som percebi que ele usava uma afinação muito diferente; tinha muito mais graves e ao tocar dava a sensação de ter uma orquestra junto, Cellos e outras cordas, de tanto som que vinha, tantos harmonicos! Ele gravou direto violão e voz, e depois fez pequenas dobras.
A primeira música foi esta, “Om Mani Padme Hum” que me deixou literalmente hipnotizado pela sua beleza, pela poesia, pela voz afinadíssima e de timbre único do Madan.
Ao terminar este take, entrei no estúdio e comentei com ele “Que sonzeira, hein! Parecia que tinha um monte de gente tocando aqui com voce” e ele me responde; “e tinha mesmo!”
Todas as músicas foram finalizadas numa fita Cassete que nunca mais tive acesso.
Nos anos que se seguiram trabalhamos juntos em 2 álbuns dele (agora em gravação digital) e em shows que atuei como músico e arranjador.
Em 2014 este grande amigo partiu pras esferas celestiais.
Em 2023 a filha do Madan me cedeu uma cópia daquela fita Cassete, onde ouvi esta magnifica música, mas com uma qualidade sonora muito ruim. Tentei filtrar ruídos, re-equalizar pra conseguir uma melhor qualidade, sem conseguir um resultado que me agradasse.
Aí tive a idéia de separar a voz do Madan, isola-la, pra trabalhar somente com a voz e refazer, tocar todo o instrumental novamente. O resultado é o que você escuta aqui.

This Madan single has a spectacular story!
In 1988, I founded the FrequênCia Rara studio in a small house (in the Sumaré neighborhood in São Paulo), starting recordings with just 3 microphones and a 4-channel Porta-Studio that recorded on cassette tape.
The first client who started recording was Madan Neves, a long-haired guy who arrived with a 12-string guitar to start working on original songs, inspired on the philosophy of master OSHO.
As soon as I checked the sound, I realized that he used a very different tuning; he had much more bass and when he played it gave the sensation of having an orchestra with him, cellos and other strings, because of the amount of sound that came out, so many harmonics! He recorded guitar and voice directly, and then added small overdubs.
The first song was this one, “Om Mani Padme Hum”, which literally hypnotized me with its beauty, poetry, and Madan’s very tuneful voice and unique timbre.
When I finished this take, I went into the studio and said to him, “What a great sound, huh! It seemed like there were a lot of people playing here with you”, and he replied, “and there really were!”
All the songs were finished on a cassette tape that I never had access to again.
In the years that followed, we worked together on two of his albums (now in digital recording) and on shows where I performed as a musician and arranger.
In 2014, this great friend passed away to the heavenly spheres.
In 2023, Madan’s daughter gave me a copy of that cassette tape, where I heard this magnificent song, but with very poor sound quality. I tried to filter out noises and re-equalize to achieve better quality, but I couldn’t get a result that I liked.
Then I had the idea of separating Madan’s voice, isolating it, so that I could work only with his voice and redo it, playing the entire instrumental again. The result is what you hear here.
